Something to think about!

I love reading newspapers.  If we travel and they pile up, it is heavenly to me to sit down with a stack and read through them.

I was recently reading in the USAtoday about things that are left in motel rooms.

Do you know what is the most frequently left object in a motel room??

cel phone charger-  I understand that

Do you know what is the second most frequently left object???

Are you ready?

False teeth.  False Teeth?

Wouldn't you know if you didn't have your teeth in????

What are you good at?

Interesting article on what are you not good at .

This was very fascinating to me because I just had a conversation with Andrew about self - correction. We talked about the value of knowing what you need to work on or what you are not good at.

Something to think about!

Special Treatment

Juan Williams ,a black man, wrote about the treatment President Obama is getting from the press and is it helping or hurting him. Very interesting.

What is your Thesis?

At the graduation for Charlie we got the handy dandy program with all the Thesises (is that the word) in it.

Charlie's was A Modeling and Experimental Study of Deformation and Hot Tearing in Steel. Ok, that is not a conversation that I often have with my friends but I somewhat have an idea about what that is talking about.

Here are some that I find...interesting

Ice Storm

The ice, freezing rain, etc started at our house about 2 yesterday afternoon. Here is the front yard this morning. We have power, plenty of firewood, food, and plenty of things to do. We are happy.
Our driveway.

The backyard

I took this standing in the garage looking toward the front yard.

This is a wonderful picture because it shows that I have a wonderful fire going. Carl built it before he left for work and Kaitlin has kept it going.

Bible Study

Last week in Bible Study we studied chapter 9 called Unfailing Love in the book The Friendships of Women by Dee Brestin.

One subject that was fascinating to me was the difference between annual and perennial friends. The author says that most friends are like annuals, they bless you for a season and then they are gone but even their leaving is a blessing because that makes room for new and different ones. Perennials come back faithfully each year and the annuals may add color, variety and beauty when the perennials are not at their peak.

One lady at Bible Study, Mary Ann, said that that reminded her of lace. The reason the lace is beautiful is because of the holes. So that when annual friends move on, they leave something beautiful.

I was glad to read and hear this. I have tried to make all my friends perennials and I have tried to be a perennial friend to many. No wonder I have failed. Some times I have been mad or frustrated with friends that just 'weren't there' for me. I know there is sin in the world and people fail us but this was very insightful for me.
