Missions Conference 2013

 Our missions conference was the first weekend of this month.  It is a highlight of the year for me.  I love seeing old friends, making new friends, being with my church family, being encouraged by missionary stories, hearing great messages, singing songs about missions, seeing the flags from the many countries that we support or have supported missionaries in- being marched in, and my list goes on and on.

I am so thankful to be in a church with a great missions emphasis.

 Roger Dye told us what was going on with his ministry.  Our church supported his Mama and Dad for many years.  They are off the field now.

 Our Saturday morning brunch was well attended and the sharing was fantastic!

 Carl and I met Hans and Gretchen 34 years ago in St Louis.  I am thankful that our paths have crossed many time over the years.  They have blessed many in our church.

We need to remember our missionaries all through the year.  Their work is hard.  Please take time to pray for them today!

 I wish I could bottle up the feeling I have when my family is all together and we are laughing and having a good time.

 I would take a big, deep breath of it everyday.  It would smell of good food. The sound of laughter would escape every time the lid was lifted and the bottle would feel warm, a good, comforting warm.

I tried to savor every second we were all together.  It was all too short for me.

I am so thankful for Carl and all he does so our party is always ongoing. He even bought me a fun party shirt to wear.  I am thankful for pictures.  I am thankful to God for all He has given us.  I am thankful He invented family.

My brother, Charles and his wife, Frances, were not able to be with us and they were sorely missed.

I hope you had lots of mountain top time this holiday season.  Happy New Year from the Funroes!

Andrew was feeling left out when I wrote a post about the wonderful children that live with and near me. So here is a post just for Andrew.

Andrew, you will always be very special. Your birth made me a mama. I wish we lived closer but I know that God is Sovereign and we are just where we need to be. I am thankful for all the times we get to chat on the phone and for the times we are together. We do have fun without you but it is not the same as when you are with us. My favorite times are when we are all together, no matter where we are. I try to use the ache I feel when we are not together as a reminder to pray for my friends whose families cannot be together because of death or for other reasons and also those that just don't enjoy being together.

We are greatly blest. Andrew, I am blest to count you as one of my blessings!
