October is here and I am glad!!

I can't decide if April or October is my favorite month!

I am so excited about October Fool's Day!  My friend, Sandy, plans to come and spend the day with us and we are going to bake.  I have so many pumpkin recipes that I never get to use because I usually only get fired up to bake for Christmas.  But this year...  I hope to post pictures of lots of some yummy food.

My goals for October are to eat or drink something pumpkin everyday?!?- this should be interesting. Maybe I'll post pictures?!?  I also plan to wear something orange everyday. I am glad my football team has orange as a color!  I figure if I eat or drink pumpkin everyday, I'll be orange by the 31st!!!  I plan to really make an effort to memorize Romans 8.  I have made a few weak attempts in the past.  Hopefully you can call me on the 31 and I'll say it to you!  I also plan to pray for my pastors.  This is Pastor Appreciation Month.  Ask me how I know this?  That would be because my daughter works at Hallmark.

Happy October Fool's Day to you!  I hope it is a wonderful one!

I am about to die, quick, give me chocolate

We had a Muffin Mixer with the ladies of the church this past Saturday. What is a Muffin Mixer, you may ask, well, it a wonderful time with muffins and visiting.

EmilyR was in charge of 'gatherings' for the women in the church for the last few and she started these. LauraL is in charge and kudos to her for a job well done! We met at a home for a brunch of muffins, coffee and juice- this time we had egg casseroles and fruit too! After everyone was gathered we were put into groups by numbers and symbols that were on our name tags. My first group were the leafs.

This is a picture of us gathered around a table with our wonderful food.

Of course there were muffins.
The best ones there, in my opinion, were made by Mandy. I'll try to get the recipe. They were amazing. They had walnuts and cranberries in them.
Here is the muffin maker herself, Mandy with Brandi.
Here is a group discussing things like: beach or mountains, what do you see when you look out your kitchen window or were you named after anyone?

This was my second group. When asked if we had a teen heart throb... one lady said that David Cassidy was hers. When it got to me I said that mine was Donny Osmond. Sonya, who had been very quiet up to this point, heartily agreed with me!! Another question was if you could have unlimited quantities of one food, what would it be? The answers were cheesecake, chocolate, seafood and the such. When it got to Mary Ann, she shared the her husband suffers from migraines when he eats chocolate. He has asked Mary Ann to carry chocolate in her purse so if they are ever in a situation when he has just a few minutes to live, he wants her to put the chocolate in his mouth!!!! We are laughed about that.

Kris shared her testimony.
There was lots of laughter.A good time was had by all. If you missed it, you missed a good time and I hope you will be at the next one.

09 09 09

In honor of today I'll make a list of 9's about being at Andrew and Taylor's.

1-I have only finished 3 scrapbook pages of their NYC trip

2- They saved me everything from their trip such that this scrapbook may have an album for each day.

3-The AC vent in my room here blows right on me at night which is wonderful.

4-I am reading Andy Catlett by Wendell Berry and How the States got their Shapes by Mark Stein.

5- Andrew Peterson's book is next on my list.

6- I bought a new 'grabber' at Home Depot so I could pick up things I drop. It has a magnet on it. It is fun to pick up metal things like paper clips. I sometimes just drop paper clips so I can pick them up.

7-A and T have an automatic garbage can. You move in front of a sensor and it opens. Said garbage can is near where I sit scrapbooking. I have several new moves on how to get it open and drop my trash in with great style. Carl, I might need one of these.

8-The shuttle is landing tomorrow night. Andrew asked if I wanted to go see it land.

9-Kaitlin, Lord willing, I'll be home in two weeks, no matter what Andrew tells you.

I had turkey

I just read a fact in the paper I thought I'd share with you. The night when the most pizza is ordered is Super Bowl Sunday, the second night is Halloween, and the third is tonight- the night before Thanksgiving.

How many of you are having pizza?

Friends , Supper and Painting with Light

One Sunday night we had a party that included Kaitlin's friends from college. She needed lots of hands here to help her with her latest photography project. After supper we bundled up in coats and hats and scarves and gloves then we headed outside. I was the shutter button pusher and Kaitlin the director.

We had a blast. We shared lots laughs and the outside pictures are wonderful. Of course we took some on the inside before hand... Enjoy them too.

I cooked All Day Stew. This is also a meal that you can make as much or as little as you need.

Stew Meat about 2 lbs
Lipton soup mix( I 've used onion , beefy onion, beefy mushroom etc , you get the idea)
Golden Mushroom condensed soup
8 oz mushrooms ( Kaitlin doesn't like mushrooms so I use large ones so she can avoid them easily)
1/2 c of water

Place all ingredients in 2 1/2 quart casserole. Cover tightly and bake at 300 for 3 hours. I serve with noodles. This is good the next day too.

I serve it with whole green beans and waldorf salad.

What Your Handbag Says About You, This is what mine says about me!

You tend to be relaxed throughout the day. You are naturally at peace. You tend to be relaxed but alert. You keep your eye out for anything unusual. You are open and comfortable with who you are. You don't hide anything. You are an outgoing and expressive person. You always speak your mind, and you're very approachable.
