What to due when you are due?

To celebrate Marisa's due date we went to the nail salon.  I got my first manicure and Marisa got a mani and a pedi.  I will post a picture of my nails soon but picture 'glow in the dark' orange and that's about it!

Marisa looks darling pregnant.  She is all baby.  I think Atticus has his feet on her backbone and is reaching his hands out over his head.

Picture walking into the nail salon with Marisa.   First comment, "You are going to have a baby?"  Really, really?!?  Thank you, captain obvious.  I cannot write what I really wanted to say, oh well.

Next came a question..." When are you due?"
Marisa, " Today"
all folks in Salon "Lots of SCREAMING"  then even more screaming, then "YOU ARE DUE TODAY?"
I couldn't decide between asking them to boil water- why do people always boil water when they deliver babies on tv?- or say "Yes, we are on our way to hospital, her contractions are 3 minutes apart, could you hurry up?"
We both just smiled.

M is for Mama

I've been sick, maybe even the flu.

Last Monday night I met with my table for 4 after -The Snake- (will post on that soon) and I didn't feel great but I love those women.  Tuesday was my friend, Mandy's, birthday and she is moving soon so I couldn't miss my lunch with her.  After lunch on Tuesday, I came home, sat down and really didn't move til Monday.

I am thanking for my job and my retirement.  I am thankful for Carl and Kaitlin and their love for take-out.  I am thankful for having lots of library books here to read (will post on that soon).  I am thankful for all the tv coverage of the March Madness.  I am thankful for soft tissues to blow my nose with.  I am thankful for sweet friends who came to clean up my house, even braving the germs.  I am thankful for feeling good again!

My latest pictures

I recently got some pictures back from Snapfish.  You may recognize the picture on top, it is the WWII Pacific War museum that I wrote about a few days ago.  As I was going through my pictures I was stunned with the last picture.  What a cute dog, I guess, but whose dog is he?  Not mine!  And I must confess, I don't really like dogs.  Sandy thinks it is a sign that I need a dog, I think it is a sign that someone is missing their picture of their dog.

This is not the first time Snapfish has done this to me.

Here is our Christmas picture from this past year.

I was stunned when I reached into the box and pulled this picture out.  Cute kids.  Are they yours?  Maybe the above dog is their's?  I wonder if anyone gets some of our pictures????

M is for My Mama

I am reading My Reading Life by Pat Conroy.  I have just read the first two chapters and I am loving it.

Here is a quote from the first chapter... My mother hungered for art, illumination, for some path to lead her to a shining way to call her own. She lit signal fires in the hills for her son to feel and follow.  I tremble with gratitude as I honor her name.

I feel his gratitude for my precious mama too.  She died 16 years ago today and I am still able to follow the fires that she lit for me.  What a legacy.  I am blest.

The letter for this month is M

Moving thru the Bible!!!!    10 lists is the Bible Reading that I am following this year and I am loving it.  Here is a short excerpt from the article.  The beauty of this reading is you can start it any time, so join me today!

On day one, you read Matthew 1, Genesis 1, Romans 1, and so forth. On day 2, read Matthew 2, Genesis 2, etc. On day 29, you will have just finished Matthew, so go to Mark 1 on the Gospel list; you’ll also be almost to the end of 2nd Corinthians and Proverbs, you’ll be reading Psalm 29 and Genesis 29, and so forth. When you reach the last chapter of the last book in a list - start over again. Rotate all the way through all the Scriptures constantly.
Since the lists vary in length, the readings begin interweaving in constantly changing ways. You will NEVER read the same set of ten chapters together again! Every year you’ll read through all the Gospels four times, the Pentateuch twice, Paul’s letters 4-5 times each, the OTwisdom literature six times, all the Psalms at least twice, all the Proverbs as well as Acts a dozen times, and all the way through the OTHistory and Prophetic books about 1 12 times. Since the interweaving is constantly changing, you will experience the Bible commenting on itself in constantly changing ways — the Reformer’s principle of ‘scriptura interpretans scripturam’ — ‘scripture interpreting scripture’IN ACTION!

Instragram Friday!

Working in the kitchen on Wednesdays requires some of us to be creative to get where we need to be!
my mama was born in SD and lived in ND so I always check the weather in Devils Lake and Yankton.  I wonder if they wish they were at the beach.
Reflections was the category for 1000 gifts one day last week.  Here are mine- upper right- my childhood, Kaitlin's bible study, Andrew's muffins, college basketball.
My new plate wall.  I love it.  Plates from Sandy, Marisa, Taylor, my grandmother, my mama, my china and things my dad picked up in WWII
My small group came over and we played a fun card game.  It was a blast!
