If I had a hammer?

This is what the living room and dining room looked like after Robert and John brought out from storage all the pictures that were taken down before the painting happened.
Then Carl, aka my picture hanger, went to work. This is in the foyer. Photo by Ross.

The corner in the living. Photos of Kaitlin and Marisa by SaraE.

The gray wall in the dining room with pictures and graphic design work by Kaitlin.
Pine cone by Marisa. I have several more of her works to frame and then Carl will hang them on 'her' wall.
This picture was taken in, by my best guess, 1968? Do you think you see Kaitlin? It is me. We have lots of fun with this picture.
I don't often keep flowers on the floor but I had to move them to take pictures. The picture on the blue wall is by Ross.
I love and am blest by all my art!

Student Competitive '10

The student competitive is up at UALR now.
Here is Kaitlin with a picture that was taken by her friend, Sara. It is on the opening wall and greets you as you walk into the exhibit.
Here are the two pictures of Kaitlin's that got in.
Here is Ross' picture done in Illustration on the computer. Several of my friends thought this was a water color.
Here is our friend, Elizabeth. She is a painter.
Here are Kaitlin, Ross, Elizabeth, Marisa and Joey in the art gallery. Kaitlin and Marisa have been blest with good friends.

Art Show

Here is Kaitlin's blog that has the picture that got into the Delta. It is the second from the last- the doorway with the shadow.

The Delta is an art competition held each year at The Arkansas Arts Center. This year 554 pieces were entered and 52 were selected.

We went to the opening of the exhibition. I had to sit down because of my back. My favorite bench was in the room with Kaitlin's picture. I liked watching folks looking at her picture :)

If you go see it, the photo is listed by her given name, Katherine.

It is a wonderful exhibit and it is free!

Birthdays and Artwork and Friends

Here is our little group eating lunch. Marisa is smiling, hidden are Sandy and Clare, then me , Carl, KimT, back of Barb's head and Brittany. We celebrated Kimt's birthday and mine. Then we loaded up in my van and Brittany's car and went to UALR.We went to see the artwork that had been ,selected by the jury, that had been entered into the student competition. There were about 300 pieces entered and 75 were selected. We saw several pieces by Kaitlin's friends- Brittany, Andrea, Cary, Sara and Ross.Kaitlin has two in the gallery. For those who saw her final project from last semester, these will look familiar. They are Tom with Kerry and Lee Ann with her unborn son, Luke. With our family so far from us it was neat to have all these "aunts" to come and support their Kaitlin. We were there for Brittany, she wanted some family there too.

KimF came with Shelby, Paige and the above mentioned Kerry, age three. When he saw the picture he said "Hey, that's a picture of me and my dad!"

Thoughts from Michelangelo

Nothing makes the soul so pure as the endeavor to paint something perfect, for God is perfection, and whoever strives for it, strives for something Godlike. True painting is only an image of God's perfection- a shadow of the brush with which He paints.

Art

I went with Kaitlin to an art exhibit tonight. The exhibit was held in a large hallway- seating area at an Episcopal Church downtown. The art was all printmaking. There were six artists. They each had about six prints. There was a singing duo there. Their cardboard sign in front of them said that they were brothers. One played the guitar and harmonica and the other the banjo. Their sign also said that we could sing along with them but they played no songs I had ever heard.

This is the second art exhibit from her school I have been to with Kaitlin. Such an eclectic group of people. After I leave a group like that I remember what Kaitlin's observations are as she watches folks in the art building at school. They all try to be and look different but they end up all looking alike.
