Behold the Lamb of God tour- Ryman

 As I have said before, my son, Andrew, introduced us to the music of Andrew Peterson and we have evermore been blessed by it in many ways.  Andrew Peterson is a story teller and his songs really speak to me.  He wrote songs for a Christmas album called Behold the Lamb of God.  Stop right now and buy it.  You won't be sorry for a minute.  We have seen Andrew Peterson in concert when he came to LR but have always wanted to see the Behold the Lamb of God tour.  We've toyed with seeing if we can bring it to LR.  With Kaitlin's encouragement to see the tour at the Ryman in Nashville, Carl got us tickets.  We planned to head out on Saturday and come home on Sunday.  Our weekend got squeezed into one day-well 19 hours.  We left about 9am Sunday and got home about 4am on Monday.  I would do it all again!!

We met my dear, dear, friend, KathyB for supper and then she went to the concert with us.

 Our seats were on the ground floor of the Ryman.  Here is Andrew Peterson.  The concert is broken into two parts.  The first part every musician that is with the tour gets introduced and plays two songs. The second part is the Behold the Lamb music.  Sally Lloyd-Jones introduced the second part of the concert by reading from one of her books.  That was so cool!!

 One of the reason to see TBTLOG concert in Nashville is the lights and special effects and several artists join in the concert that may not be on the tour.  This year Steven Curtis Chapman sang with the group along with his son.  His individual songs that he sang in the first part of the concert made me cry because he talked about the Connecticut shootings and making it through the loss of a child.  He shared how the Gospel that is shared in Christmas story is the healing power of God and that is how you make it.

During the concert The audience was encouraged to sing.  We sang Christmas songs and It Is Well With My Soul.  Can you say very moving??  I am ready to go next year.  I want to take lots of you with me.  You should plan to go too!  You won't be disappointed.

Things we learn from our children or The Andrew Peterson concert

I don't know how many years ago my son, Andrew began listening to Andrew Peterson's music. Andrew and Taylor have been able to see him in concert many times.Kaitlin wrote this about the concert she went to . I have enjoyed listening to AP's cds and hearing the stories behind the songs that Andrew and Kaitlin have shared with me.

Last Monday I attended my first concert and I am ready for more. Carl came home from work and Marisa and I jumped in his car. Kaitlin has class on Monday but it ended early and she was able to join us.

We heard Andrew Peterson, Ben Shive and Andy Gullahorn.
The songs and the stories were amazing. One of mine and Marisa's favorite songs is Queen of Iowa. We both tweeted him to ask him to sing it. We were not disappointed. He sang it for the first song of the encore.
Marisa bought both of AP's books and had him sign the second one at her favorite part. She was also able to ask him how to pronounce two of the names from the books. Carl told him that I won his first book in a blog give away from his blog www.rabbitroom.com . AP thought that was neat.
The concert was amazing and I am ready to see another. EmilyR and Ryan were there as were Darrell, Clare, Katie and Marcus.It is neat that my children and I are friends. I am so thankful that I am in their lives and that I know what music they enjoy and can enjoy it myself. My mother was such a wonderful example to me of loving adult children well.

The Space Shuttle is headed home today from a 13 day mission.

I have always been fascinated with anything NASA. I like to watch the NASA channel and see what all they are doing. I enjoy movies like The Right Stuff and Apollo 13 and October Sky. Carl grew up in a town close enough to Huntsville, AL so that he remembers hearing the windows shake as the Saturn Five rockets were being tested. At the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville is a rocket pad that novices can fire rockets off at- Homer Hickam made that happen.

The above mentioned movies were some of my ironing movies meaning my children had watched them many, no MANY times. They are astronaut aware whether they want to be or not.

My son, Andrew loves to listen to Andrew Peterson's music. In fact, we both follow AP on twitter. We knew he was going to the launch of the shuttle that is headed home today but other than a love for NASA we didn't know why.

Pat Forrester is a NASA astronaut. He is on the shuttle that is headed home even as I write this. I am not sure what is job is on this shuttle but he did do as least one spacewalk. Pat Forrester is a Christian. He has a piece of the plane that flew Nate Saint and Jim Elliot down to meet the Auca Indians with him on the shuttle.

Pat Forrester and Andrew Peterson are friends. Andrew Peterson wrote his song Rocket for his friend Pat. I didn't know that. I was watching the NASA channel one morning and heard Houston getting ready to 'wake up the astronauts.' They do this by using songs that the astronauts have requested. I almost fainted when I heard an Andrew Peterson being played and then I heard Pat Forrester saying Good Morning to his wife, children, his mama and his friend, Andrew. How cool is that.

I love it when two areas of my life overlap.

Today I am scrapbooking and watching the NASA channel to check on the landing of the shuttle.

Another aside of this shuttle is that Andrew and Taylor were able to go to Titusville and see the launch. They said that it was an amazing site. They were in a park 12 miles from the launch pad with a view of the two launch pads. The NASA channel was piped in so they could keep up with what was going on. Andrew wants our whole family to go down for a launch. Carl has seen one several years ago. He was a business meeting at the power plant that supplies power to Cape Canaveral. They went on the roof of said building and saw a night launch. Uncle John and Aunt Elaine have seen a launch too. Maybe soon I'll blog about the launch I get to see. I'll probably be playing Rocket by Andrew Peterson as if goes off.
