Half-birthday fun!

My sweet mama would have be 87 today.

I picture her in good health and vibrant.  She would have a computer and a cel phone.  She would know how to text.

She loved the state of GA and would love that she had two sons, their wives and a grandson and his wife that lived there too.

Today is also my half-birthday!  I celebrated by watching a show this morning on TV The CBS Sunday Morning show.  My mother loved that show.  I watched it in her honor.

For lunch we had a picnic on the banks of Lake Maumelle just west of our house.  Kaitlin made our sandwiches, packed chips and apples.  Lunch was wonderful and the view was beautiful.

I always miss my mama on this day.  Having a celebration helps

My furst favowite month is October

We have a friend, Kelsey, who is a senior in high school. Hard to believe!  We have know Kelsey her whole life.  Kelsey and her sisters love Kaitlin.  Once, when Kelsey was 4, she shared her favowite colors with Kaitlin.  This is what she shared-

My furst favowite color is Purple
My second favowite is green
I don't have a thurd
but my fourth is orange.

We have laughed for years over this as has Kelsey.

So in honor of Kelsey-

My first favorite month is October
My second favorite month is April
I don't have a third
but my fourth is November.

What is your favorite month?

What is six months after your birthday? Your half-birthday!

Today is Andrew and Marisa's Half Birthday. And a beautiful day here in Arkansas it is. When Andrew lived at home, November 17th meant a day filled with NO school for anyone, movies that Andrew chose, outside play and his supper of choice, usually lasagna. The movie of choice for many years was The Longest Day.

For some reason Marisa didn't celebrate half-birthdays til she started living with us. Who knew?

I asked Andrew and Marisa what movie would they pick if they could stay home with me today and enjoy their half birthday. Andrew picked The Emperors Club and Marisa pick all the Harry Potter movies (she is excited about seeing the new HP movie that comes out on Friday).

I celebrated their half-birthday by eating breakfast at Mimi's with Kaitlin. I had a coupon for buy one breakfast get one free just for today. I think now I may watch The Longest Day. I got attached to it by watching it for some many years.

28 1/2 and 22 1/2. Wow, they are sure getting old :)

25 1/2, 26 1/2, 20 1/2, and 23 1/2

In the last 10 days we have and are celebrating 4 half-birthdays.Thursday a week ago was Taylor's. Monday was Andrew and Marisa's and today is Kaitlin's.

When my children were all at home and it was your half-birthday, you got to pick what we ate for lunch and supper and you didn't have to do school. The children would plan for weeks what they wanted to eat and what movie they would pick to watch during the day. The gift given that day was time. Mama would put lotion on your back, we would play games, and as they got older, they could sleep-in.

On Monday morning early I sent Andrew a text wishing him a Happy Half-Birthday. He sent back that he couldn't believe he had to work on his half-birthday:)

Marisa is new to the half-birthday celebrating. She didn't even realize her's was approaching! On Monday as Kaitlin and I wished her a half-birthday and told her to pick out what she wanted for supper she was a little stunned. She picked to eat at a local restaurant near our house. We even invited a few friends to join us.

Today Kaitlin is 23 1/2. For her half-birthday she wants her papa to cook his fried rice for lunch or supper she doesn't care. And she wants him to cook enough so there are leftovers. She wants to eat some next week too. I doubt we will play any games today as this is a college football Saturday but I am so thankful for all the years we did.

When is your half-birthday? How do you celebrate?
