craftcation # 27?

About 8 years ago Carl and John went on a 15 day Scout outing.  Kaitlin and I pushed back all the furniture, set up lots of tables in several rooms and invited over friends to craft.  That time we were only doing scrapbooking.  We scrapbooked and laughed and laughed.  One husband called a few times to check on his wife.  He couldn't believe that she could scrapbook for 12 hours but we sure did!!  I shall leave him nameless because many of you know him :)

I think that was our first craftcation.  It is so much fun to set aside a few days to just craft.  Last Friday we had a craftcation with Bri and Callie.  Kaitlin and Bri did well for only having about 3 hours sleep since they saw the new batman movie at midnight.  Our day started with new Toms for everyone!
Callie brought several crafts with her for the day.  Here she is putting her wedding photos in an album.
Lots of markers are involved with decorating Toms.
Here is the beginning of painting on pillowcases with bleach pins.

Callie also worked on a tee shirt quilt.
Bri
The group that was here for supper! We had roast, potatoes, carrots, onions and squash in the crock pot so  we wouldn't have to stop and cook.

I think Matt's face is my favorite.  He just smiles with all the craziness going on all around him!

We had a great time!!  We laughed so much and that means it was a wonderful day!!

whispers and cheers for you today

Please read this by Andree Seu !

Did you read it??  I hope so!

Many of her articles really speak to me, right where I am.  This one did.  I've been reading through the Bible through The Ten Lists method and I love it.  I've read through several lists now so as I am rereading them, I am seeing more.

Today two verses spoke to me:
Job 26:14  Behold, these are but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?  Job was just extolling the Majesty of God.  I love the phrase that what we hear is a whisper of Him.  All that we see is a whisper of who he really is!  Imagine what heaven will be like !!

Psalm 94:19  When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.  As soon as I read this I sent it to my friends that have shared hard, hard struggles with me- husbands leaving, routine visit to doctor resulting in 'further tests', seeing a child struggle- even if they are now adults.  Life is hard but we have a Savior who is ready to cheer my soul!!  Amen!!

Grandson fun!

We had lunch for Carl's birthday on Sunday. Robert, Marc, John, Marisa and Atticus joined Carl, Kaitlin and me for lunch. Atticus came in wearing his super cool shades so I put mine on so we could get a super cool picture!

I plan to stir you up!

I am so blest to be a part of a church that has so many wonderful Sunday School teachers.  This past Sunday Del taught from Hebrews 3.  Here are verses 1 and 2

Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, who was faithful to him who appointed him just as Moses also was faithful in all God's house.

Del called our attention to phrase, consider Jesus.  How often do we stop and consider all that Jesus has done for us.  I know I don't ever consider long at all, all that has been done for me by Jesus.

The same word is used in verse 24 of chapter 10.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

The same word!  How long have you and I stopped to consider how to stir each other up to love and good works??

Here goes some stirring!

One of my friends gets the laundry of a mother of 6 and does it each week.  Is there a mother near you that could use a little help?

What day of the month is your birthday?  Do something on that day every month for someone.

Let your church secretary know you are thankful for all she does!  Make her a meal or send her a card.

Is there a elementary public school near you?  You could go to the principle and ask if there is a class that needs a room mother.  If you have the time you could be the room mother.  Think of the joy you would bring the teacher and all her students!

October is Pastor Appreciation Month.  Make a list now of all the Pastors you know.  Hallmark makes cards for you to give them.  We pray every Sunday for all the PCA pastors in AR and some in surrounding states.  I am sure they would like to hear from us that we are praying.  How about your missionaries that are pastors??  Write them letter. Are there things that your missionaries can't get in the countries they live in?  I just had my friend, Jessica, say that she can't get spatulas in Italy.  I plan to mail her some!

Do you plan to do 30 days of giving in November??  Start thinking now.  Another option is to give 30 ways in November.

I believe the saying by Eric Liddel  "I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure."
God made us for good works and I think when we do good works we feel His pleasure!
Consider now how you can stir up one another!!

The Baptism of my first Grandson!

Three generations that have worn this gown.
 The beautiful family with Bubbles.
Four generations.  Pastor Tim shared that often in the Bible, God uses families to spread the Gospel.  He shared that he thought it was neat that four generations were at this baptism showing this example.

I love that Atticus got his little, darling, foot out.
Our family

We usually sit on the right side of the church on the third pew. Because of the baptism we sat with all the family on the left side.  We did ask Pastor Tim if he could handle seeing us sit on the 'other' side.  He was teasingly unsure.  We were able to get some photos on the down low.  The is always an elder that stands up with family.  Carl got that honor.  I would call him by his grandfather name but we have not idea what that is?!?

During the baptism when Pastor Tim was talking to John and Marisa, Atticus began cooing at him.  It made Tim pause and smile.  Very precious.

Pastor Tim always kisses the babies after they are baptized.

Marisa's family
It was a beautiful service.  I hope to often remind Atticus of the faith of his parents in bringing him to be baptized.  It is our prayer that Atticus doesn't know a day that Jesus isn't his Lord and Saviour.

KimT, Hazel, and a 5th Anniversary

Today is my blog anniversary!! Five Years!!!! Here is my first blog.  Oh, my.  It is fun to look back and see how far I've progressed.  This blog was started because KimT and Hazel told me they wanted me to share more of my stories about life as it happens to me.  My title comes from Taylor.  She needed a name to call me and Bubbles is what we came up with.  Carl is Money but he doesn't embrace it.  I still think it would be funny if Atticus and any that follow called him Money, but we can't have everything we want.

Thanks for reading!  Thanks for sending me texts about blogging more, telling me that I need to change my blog header and letting me know that you have learned things from my blog.

Thank you again!!
Love, Bubbles

A wonderful legacy

Atticus was baptized on June 24th.  It was beautiful.  He wore the same gown that 3 of my 4 brother's wore and so did I.  My brother, Charles, didn't wear it because he and I were baptized at the same time.  Andrew, Kaitlin and John wore it and now we are onto the next generation.

My sweet mama made this gown by hand.  She made it for my oldest brother.  If he were living he would have been 61 on June 21st.  The gown has no buttons, Mother used little gold safety pins to hold it together.  That is what we still use.

I felt like my mother as I ironed the gown and the slip.  I so wished she were still living so I could have asked her if she ever dreamed that her great-grandson would one day be wearing the gown she made.  She would have loved seeing Atticus in the gown as he got baptized.  What a wonderful tradition she left us.  There are several things of my mother's that I let get away from me during her estate sale.  Instead of being sad I try to remember all that we do have, like this gown and the story behind it.
