This sounds like fun! This afternoon I started Mere Christianity. I'm one of "those people" who read the preface, introduction, and chapter titles before getting to the real book. One of the chapter titles reminded me of something Mike Warnke said at a performance 25 or so years ago: "Jesus didn't die on the cross to make bad men good, but to make dead men live." It stuck with me, obviously. I spent some time on the internet this afternoon seeing what happened to Mr. Warnke; and I'm afraid he hasn't led a very consistent life for Christ. It illustrated again the danger of thinking too highly of so called Christian celebrities.
How exciting, Bubbles! I am currently finishing up "Bridge to Terabithia" for tonights book club gathering. I have post its through out and dogearred pages. So good~much about friendship. I have seen some of my life in this and it has been enlightening, challenging, and some pain. I love the friendship that developed between Jess and Leslie. I love the honesty and openness of children. I will end there until tonight. See you tonight. Jules
I'm currently reading "Manhunt" that covers the assasination of Lincoln and the days after it. It is very interesting and I've enjoyed it so far, at least when I can make the time to read it :) Thanks for doing this! It sounds exciting! :)
HEY! I am reading Paradise Lost by Milton. Talk about weird. It is probably the most powerful writing I have ever read. It also gives some interesting things to think about fallen angels and what drives them, and also what it might have been like in the garden.
I just finished reading 3/4 of Dicken's Tale of Two Cities and then had to finish the story by watching an old movie of it. I had read this in high school...but my word!....I didn't remember ANY of it. How did I ever write a paper on it? I like to read what my daughters are assigned in school so I can critique their essays with some degree of familiarity but I chose this book not because they had to read it but I was curious to see how my literature experience differs from theirs. I'm so glad I'm not in school!!!!
I just finished "From the Dust Returned" by Ray Bradbury, my favorite author of all. The book is about a family of supposed vampires, written completely in figurative language, it's beautiful!
I just finished reading Ana's Story by Jenna Bush. It was really good. It is about a girl named Ana who is living with HIV. It tells about her life growing up. It shares the stuggles she deals with with such strength. Knowing that people out there are living with problems such as Ana's just breack my heart. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
You are one of the most fun creative people I know! OK - I'm reading THE REIGN OF GRACE by Scotty Smith, the pastor of Christ Community Church in Nashville. It's the sequel to his incredible book OBJECTS OF HIS AFFECTION. I highly, highly recommend both. So encouraging, so humbling, so raw and real. It makes you love Jesus more! On the fun side, I just finished HOME TO HOLLY SPRINGS by Jan Karon. Bet you read that the first week it came out. :) By the way, we saw Andrew Peterson in concert last year here in Cookeville. He's awesome.

I remember Mike Warnke. I think we saw him too about that many years ago.
